A set of five finial jewels worn on the hats of Chinese Qing dynasty (1644-1912) officials will star in Spink’s Numismatic Collectors Series sale.
The jewels are made from coloured glass
The jewels are made from coloured glass and represent the ranks of the officials, with red being the highest and white the lowest.
The hats they were worn on were conical in shape and the jewel would have been attached to the top.
Very few such jewels are known to have survived, particularly in such good condition.
The lot is expected to make around $1,023 when it sells on August 15.
