As we reported back in June, jewellery which once belonged to The Devil Wears Prada star Anne Hathaway is to be sold online.
The watches and jewellery were given to her by her ex-long-term boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, who presented her with a number of tasteful and valuable gifts over the four years they were together, but it seems that not all of them were purchased legally.
He was sent to jail for wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy, and as a result authorities made moves to confiscate jewellery he had given to Hathaway, which was surrendered without legal dispute. It was then marked to be sold to recover money.
At the time it was expected that the auction would take place in December, but its auction site Txauction (Gaston & Sheehan) will be selling some in an auction ending on September 28.
The pieces are unlikely to be tagged with her name, or even Follieri's, so collectors and investors who are interested in the pieces partly due to their memorabilia dimension will have some detective work to do.
Items initially expected to be sold included silver earrings, a silver chain with a cross pendant, a gold Rolex watch (worth $25,000), two gold rings, a five-strand pearl necklace and a Louis Vuitton box.
