A rare 18ct yellow gold wristwatch from master horologist George Daniels has seen a new record sum at Bonhams.
|
The watch is now the most valuable example of Daniels' hand-crafted timepieces, selling for £146,500 ($245,701) in the June 11 auction in London.
Daniels (1926-2011) was one of the finest horologists in the world, and one of only a few modern watchmakers who could build a complete watch by hand.
He is well-loved by the watch collecting world, having created the co-axial escapement, a movement that is used in many of today's watches.
