Louis Vuitton Tambour watch achieves 53.8% increase at HK auction
The unique Louis Vuitton Tambour sold for almost $52,000 on October 19
The unique Louis Vuitton Tambour Diving II Chronograph watchsaw some of the highest bids in an auction of Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces, held on October 19 in HongKong.
The Tambour was originally sold at the Only Watch auction in 2011
The striking orange and black men's wristwatch was created for the Only Watch charity auction in 2011 and was accompanied by a Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite canvas presentation trunk,which featured an embossed message and CD from Paul Pettavino, a young boy suffering with muscular dystrophy whom the auction benefitted.
The Tambour's case is crafted from 18k black gold, with an orange Louis Vuitton alligator strap. It features a square button chronograph, counter and date functions and was sold complete with its original certificate of authenticity.Itbrought a 53.8% increase on its $20,000-33,000 estimate, selling for $51,610.
The T150 was created to celebrate Patek's relationship with Tiffany & Co
Following was a Patek Philippe T150, which was originally created in a limited edition of 150 watches to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the relationship between the illustrious Swiss brand and jewellers Tiffany & Co.
The watch boasts an 18k white gold casing combined with a black crocodile strap. Made in 2001, it features centre seconds, a semi-instantaneous digital triple date, annual calendar, Moon phases and 48 hour autonomy, as well as being decorated with the Tiffany & Co "T" at the 12 position.
Complete with its original fitted box, the outer Tiffany box, a commemorative medal and certificate of origin, the superb piece sold for $56,500 against a $42,000-65,000 valuation.
