Princess Margaret's diamond ring could sell today for $1.1m

A beautiful, five carat diamond ring that was made for Princess Margaret in 1970 is on sale in Birmingham, UK this afternoon (April 4).

Star of the Antiques for Everyone fair, which is being held at Birmingham's NEC arena, the ring carries a £750,000 ($1.1m) asking price. If sold, it will smash the sales record for the annual event.

The ring, which has been authenticated by Princess Margaret's son, Lord Linley, is being sold by Riverside Antiques, who acquired a number of the royal's personal items via contacts with the antiques industry.  

The Antiques for Everyone fair runs from April 4 to April 7. It will also showcase one of the world's finest collections of mechanical propelling pencils.
