A dozen bottles of 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild are expected to lead Christie's upcoming fine and rare wine auction, which is to be held in New York on March 14. The sought after Bordeaux carries a $30,000-40,000 estimate, testament to its outstanding quality and international reputation.

The 1982 Lafite has previously performed well at auction, with a dozen bottles bringing $35,700 to Bonhams in December 2012.
A magnum of 1971 Romanee Conti is also to star at the auction. The Burgundy is expected to make $18,000-28,000.
1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild is a rare commodity; however, monthly global wine auctions ensure investors can sell quickly when they decide the time is right.
