An Imperial of Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1982 brought $28,680 as the top lot of Heritage Auctions' $1.65m inaugural Signature Wine Auction in Beverly Hills earlier this month.
Besides the Chateau 1982, the next highest earner in the auction was a 12 bottle lot of Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1996, which realised $22,705.
"It was no surprise to see the great vintages of Chateau Lafite Rothschild commanding top prices," said Frank Martell, the director of Rare & Fine Wines at Heritage.

"For that matter, even lesser vintages achieved strong prices, such as a case of the 1984, which brought $11,353.
One more lot broke the $20,000 mark as a dozen bottles of DRC Assortment 1995 achieved $20,315.
Three magnums of Chateau Le Pin 2000 were the subject of significant interest from investors, realising $19,120, while another Chateau Lafite Rothschild, this time from 1986, finished the auction at $17,925.
