Hart Davis Hart Wine Co., the internationally renowned wine auction house and retailer, will hold an auction of Finest and Rarest Wines on January 28th and 29th at award-winning restaurant Tru in Chicago. The auction, which includes 1362 lots, is expected to fetch $2.9m-$4.4m.
The sale features an impressive and diverse selection of old and new world wines. Among the highlights are 97 lots of Château Lafite Rothschild worth an estimated $545,750-$808,350, including four cases of the 1996 vintage and three cases of the 2000 vintage in original wood.
Other highlights include a pristine case of 2000 Château Ausone valued at $15,000-$22,000 and two cases of 2000 Château Pétrus valued at $17,000-$26,000 each. In our opinion, either would make a strong investment.
Bidders will also find top wines from the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, featuring 36 lots worth an estimated $209,550-$312,950. These offerings are highlighted by 6 bottles of the ultra-rare 2000 Montrachet and 6 bottles of 2000 Romanée-Conti.
Also included is a dazzling array of highly-sought California wines. There is a deep selection of wines from Harlan Estate, featuring 60 lots across 16 vintages, including two lots of the 100-point rated 1994 vintage and three lots of the 100-point rated 1997 vintage.
