Acker, Merrall and Condit had a multi-record breaking 2010, and appears to be looking to hit the ground running in 2011 too, having packed potentially HK$70m (US$9m) into its first catalogue, scheduled for Friday January 21 and Saturday January 22 in Hong Kong, and filled it with plenty of temptations for the traditional Lai See packets.
While putting cases of wine into a small red envelope is not practically possible, opportunities for a little Chinese New Year wine shopping and lucky investments are certainly very much 'in the cards' here.
The sale opens up with another astonishing treasure trove of wine from the celebrated collection of Dr Bipin Desai. Every time we have featured wines from this world famous collection, they have been snapped up by savvy collectors who realize what remarkable provenance Bipin's cellar constitutes.
Following that is a superb collection of top class Bordeaux wines acquired directly from the Chateaux and kept in immaculate conditions in their original wooden cases ever since. This continues with a tremendous collection of wines from one of the great European cellars, featuring such gems as an original wooden case of 1989 Petrus, magnums of 1989 Haut Brion and 1959 Lafite, cases of 1985 and 1989 Haut Brion Blancs, bottle of 1985 Jayers and owc's of 1990 DRC Assortment and 1978 La Tache.

The Year of the Tiger will close with a deafening roar thanks to this offering of nearly 400 lots, featuring an amazing assortment of Ausone, twenty-seven lots of Lafite Rothschild and nearly fifty lots of Mouton Rothschild, featuring case after case of the 100 point Parker rated 1982 and 1986 vintages and so much more.
Lots of Latour and parcels of greats like 1990 Margaux also highlight this offering of the very best vintages of Bordeaux in the last quarter century and wines from all its top producers. Bubbles abound on the scene, continuing this stellar offering with the season's favourite and most festive beverage, highlighted by a six-pack of 1996 Krug Clos D'Ambonnay and bottles of 1976 and 1985 Krug Collection.
The collection closes in true superstar fashion with a monumental offering of Domaine de la Romanée Conti - rare and ravishing 2005 Montrachet, full Assortments of 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998s, a six-litre stunner of 1985 La Tache, flanked by a Jeroboam of 1993 and four bottles and two magnums of the great 1971 Romanée Conti, as well as a Methuselah of 1995. This is a collection that can fulfil any wine lover's dream.
