Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. will host an exceptional wine auction on Saturday, September 17 at 9am in Chicago's award-winning Tru restaurant.
The sale will feature over 1000 lots of remarkable wines carefully culled from some of the most important private cellars in North America.
Highlights include an exciting selection of Bordeaux from the heralded 1982, 1990 and 2000 vintages, including Château Pétrus, Château Haut-Brion, Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Le Pin.
In addition, buyers will enjoy a large selection of Burgundy from such legendary estates as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Henri Jayer and Armand Rousseau. The value of the auction is estimated at $3.4 to $5.1m.
All offerings have exceptional provenance.
One consignor, who has been actively collecting for over thirty years, has provided copies of the original invoices for most of the wines included in his remarkable 433-lot offering (lots 440 - 872), which includes a magnum case of 2000 Château Lafite as well as Château Le Pin from the 1998, 1999 and 2005 vintages.
Nearly all of the consignments in this auction were sourced from repeat consignors or from collectors who have been long-time buyers (some for decades) and who are consigning for the first time.
The evening before the auction, Hart Davis Hart will host its annual Comparative Bordeaux Tasting on Friday, September 16th at 6:30pm.
The tasting will explore the two great modern vintages of 2007 and 2008, which have the substance and quality for an informative comparison. Wines from both vintages will be opened from twenty top Châteaux, including all five of the first growths.
