If you fancy owning some bottles of the best vintages that money can buy, then you need to check out Sotheby's Finest and Rarest Wines sale which takes place tomorrow, Wednesday July 6.
Produce from the Romanne-Conti vineyard in Burgundy, a region in the North East of France famed for its wine output, is considered to be among the very best in the world. So when you take that into account, it is clear why five bottles of 1978 Domaine de la Romanne Conti are expected to be snapped up for between £24,000-28,000.

Sotheby's describe them as 'wine so fine it should be censored' because of their miraculous depth and flavour, and aficionados will no doubt be battling to own this wonderful vintage. Romanne Conti has a history of selling for very high amounts, as bottles of the younger 1990 vintage have sold for $10,953 in the past.
Last October, 77 bottles were sold for a price of $750,609, showing just how respected this vineyard is. For this reason, anybody looking to invest in wine should really consider Romanne Conti, because of the respected nature of the brand.
Another lot produced with a great history behind it is the sale of 12 bottles of Chateau Latour 1961, valued at between £22,000-28,000. Sotheby's are equally as enamored with these, calling them 'stupendous' with their 'great, treacly taste', so it is again obvious why they commands such high prices.

You don't have to look very hard to see examples of these previous sales, as in May 2011, a 1961 Chateau Latour imperial reached an incredible price of £131,544 at Christie's Hong Kong wine sale. As a First Growth product, it gives first rate returns on your money.
Other lots also worth a good taste include three bottles of 1959 Domaine de la Romanne Conti, estimated at £15,000-20,000, 12 bottles of Chateau Lafite valued at £13,000-17,000 and 12 bottles of Chateau Mouton Rothschild which are expected to sell for between £11,000-15,000.
