For the first time in five years, Langton's Classification of Australian Wine has added 33 new bottles to its official listing (new total: 123) - with six wines promoted to its top "exceptional" tier.
According to Langton's, its list is based on secondary market presence and value, with its latest results influenced by the increased demand for Aussie wines on the secondary market.
The list's latest "exceptional" tier boasts 17 wines, in comparison to seven in the year 2000. Five of the six new wines are Shiraz.
These include Torbreck RunRig Shiraz, which wine expert Liv-Ex observes is "this year's most ambitious climber".

Other classics on the list which have stayed put include the renowned Penfolds Grange. Expect to see much more of this wine and others on Paul Fraser Collectibles in future months...
Originally started in 1991, Langton's four-tier classification system - of which this is list number "V" - acknowledges the nation's finest and most sought-after wines.
Langton's criteria states that only wines that have made ten vintages or more are eligible for inclusion. The classification is updated every five years, charting Australia's rapidly-changing fine wine markets.
