A very fine unmounted mint, with full original gum, right hand marginal se-tenant pair, the left hand stamp showing printing variety "deep mauve printed double".
Offered with a normal example for comparison and presentation purposes.
An extremely rare printing variety. Pierron records only three mint pairs.
Just the left stamp in the pair is affected by this printing blunder. The visibility of the doubling depends on the printing sheet the stamp came from. This is the finest example as the other two are not visible to the naked eye and require magnification to identify the double colour printing.
It was last sold by Stanley Gibbons in 2016 at the price of £7,500.
