- A signed photograph of retired English footballer and 1966 World Cup winner George Cohen
George Cohen (1939 -) is an English former professional footballer who won the World Cup with England in 1966.
Cohen played his entire 13-year club career with Fulham before retiring due to injury in 1969. He is regarded by many as the greatest right-back in English football history.
An almost full length, black and white photograph of Cohen on the Wembley pitch being prevented by Alf Ramsey from swapping shirts with an Argentina player at the end of their 1966 quarter final match. The contest had been hugely bad tempered.
Signed across the lower right corner of the piece in bold blue ink, sold together with a copy of a photograph of Cohen taken during the signing.
Photograph measures 8" by 10" (landscape).
Provenance: ex Stanley Gibbons.
