A Gregory Peck handwritten letter to John Wayne
Gregory Peck (1908 – 1997) was a celebrated American actor who starred in 60 films including Roman Holiday, Cape Fear and To Kill A Mockingbird.
A handwritten, signed letter from Gregory Peck to John Wayne, dated May 12, 1979.
The letter reads:
“Dear Duke, Better get your conservative ass out of there [hospital] in time to pick up this medal.
"Love from Greg Peck”
Written and signed by Peck in black felt-tip ink on personalized stationery.
Includes Peck's original handwritten mailing envelope.
Sold along with a confirmation copy of a mailgram that Peck sent to Barry Goldwater, Jr.
regarding Peck's support of Wayne receiving the Congressional Gold Medal.
Wayne was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal on his 72nd birthday on May 26, 1979, and passed away just a couple of weeks later on June 11.
