- Featuring a rare 'full' version of Edison's signature
An original stock certificate issued by the Edison Portland Cement Company to the Edison Manufacturing Company for 1,404 shares of capital stock.
Dated December 1, 1905 and signed neatly on the reverse "Thomas A Edison".
Featuring decorative borders and a wonderful engraved portrait of Edison himself.
The certificate measures 15.75" x 8" and is in fine condition, with its original receipt still affixed intact on the left-hand edge.
Includes the usual cancellation punch holes which do not affect Edison's signature.
For much of his life, and particularly after he trademarked his famous signature in 1899, Edison signed the vast majority of documents using the abbreviated form of his name "Thos" instead of "Thomas".
This certificate features the much rarer 'full' version, making it an exceptional find.
Thomas Edison founded the Edison Portland Cement Company in 1899, after developing a method of producing stronger, more durable concrete.
In 1922 the company built the original Yankee Stadium in New York using Edison's cement, but was later forced into bankruptcy during the Great Depression.
A scarce and highly collectible stock certificate in superb condition, featuring the rarest form of Thomas Edison's autograph.
