Dominica 1886-90 1s dull magenta, watermark CA, SG26.
An unused, upper left corner block of 6 (3x2) with current number ‘1', with brilliant original gum (stamps unmounted mint). Trivial gum wrinkles (and insignificant crease in left margin) mentioned for accuracy, but a superb and rare positional multiple.
Only 20 sheets were originally printed.
Provenance: Ex William Frazer.
The stamps of Dominica were replaced by general issue stamps of the Leeward Islands on 31 October 1890. These sets, however, remained in concurrent use with the stamps inscribed 'LEEWARD ISLANDS' until 31 December 1939, when the island came under the administration of the Windward Islands.
