New Zealand 1878 2s deep rose 'First sideface', SG185.
A fine used example with very light duplex which leaves portrait virtually clear. Tiny perforation fault at left, but still of fine appearance.
A scarce Victorian New Zealand stamp. These stamps were first issued in 1874 with the change in design to the more conventional side view of the Queen. Prior to this the "Chalon Head" stamps showed an image of Queen Victoria, based on the portrait of the Queen on her coronation in 1837 by Alfred Chalon.
The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £300.
