Great Britain 1862 1s deep green Plate 2=3 (Hairlines), SG91a.
A superb unused, with original gum, imperforate corner marginal example of this rare "abnormal" issue lettered 'EE'.
A wonderful example of this abnormal Victorian rarity and almost never seen in such fine quality.
Despite being printed from plate 3, each stamp bears the number "2".
The term "abnormal" refers to the fact that the printing plate was never put to press. The "abnormal" imperforate stamps are from extra sheets run off with the imprimatur sheet (the first approved printing sheet). The stamps show corner hairlines.
The plate was registered on 16 June 1862.
