Great Britain 1902 5d dull purple & ultramarine (Board of Education) Official, SGO81.
A very fine and fresh unused, with original gum, example of this rare departmental issue. Hint of a light bend at upper right is mentioned on the accompanying 2014 British Philatelic Association certificate, but in our opinion this is extremely harsh for a stamp of this period and issue.
Accompanied with a 2014 British Philatelic Association (BPA) certificate of authenticity.
Stanley Gibbons catalogue value: £5,750.
The Queen Victoria stamps for the Board of Education were not issued until after the death of the Queen. They were issued at the same time as the King Edward VII stamps on 19 February 1902.
