1875 (c. October) cover to a pub! in Worcestershire with imperf 4d blue x3 (margins in place) & BN'57' cancels of Macquarie River (unusually with no postmaster's endorsement), endorsed "Registered" & with very fine strike of the 'REGISTERED' handstamp applied in transit at Hobart, superb oval 'REGISTERED/JA 13 58/GPO' d/s in red applied at London, "BIRMINGHAM' & 'STOKE STATION' b/s, then endorsed "missentto" (sic) with very fine 'STOKE-UPON-TRENT' cds alongside on the face, forward via 'WORCESTER' with very fine 'UPTON-ON-SEVERN' arrival b/s. A highly significant cover, being the earliest recorded usage (by almost two years) of Hobart's 'REGISTERED' handstamp. (it's a great pity that the 4d x3 for the registration fee have been neatly removed from the left of the cover).
