Description
An original signed drawing by Pablo Picasso, dated February 3, 1962.
Drawn inside an exhibition catalogue from a Picasso show in Switzerland.
This original artwork by Pablo Picasso, rendered in purple and black crayon, depicts a portrait of a bearded man.
Boldly signed and dated by the artist in the same black crayon "3.2.62" (February 3, 1962).
The portrait is drawn on the title page of a vintage exhibition catalogue:
'Picasso Paintings 1950-60' held at the Galerie Rosengart in Lucerne, Switzerland in the summer of 1961.
This title page has been neatly detached from the book, which allows it to be framed and displayed as an individual artwork.
The page measures approximately 7.5 inches by 4.7 inches (190mm by 120mm), and is in superb condition.
The catalogue itself remains in very good condition, with just some light wear to the outer covers.
It features a printed drawing on the front cover, created specially for the catalogue, and contains 16 plate illustrations of Picasso´s paintings.
The Galerie Rosengart has a long association with Picasso, and is today renowned for its collection of his paintings.
This is a striking original drawing by the most important, valuable and famous artist of the 20th century.
