I.C.S. Gwalior 1895-96 Ir green and carmine Official, error ‘SERSIV', SGO10a.
A very fine mint example with lovely fresh colours and original gum.
The error results in the last two Hindi characters in the lower line being transposed, so that the word reads "Sersiv". From position R19/1 in the May 1896 printing.
An exceptionally rare Government Official stamp error. From 12 possible examples, we have recorded nine examples (including one in the Royal Philatelic Collection).
Choice quality for this major Indian States rarity.
