China 1897 Wuhu Local Post P.P.C. black overprint on 1895 issue, 1c dull blue, 2c green and 20c pink, each showing constant printing variety 'bisected stop after second P', SG78/9,84var.
A fine mint set with large part original gum. The 1c has a corner crease and the others the odd small tone, but extremely scarce as the printing variety only occurs once per sheet.
Wuhu is situated in Anhwei Province on the Yangtse River about 282 miles from the sea. It was opened as a Treaty Port in 1876. The Wuhu Local Post was established in 1894.
