Great Britain 1840 2d Mulready lettersheet Stereo A96, SGME3.
A superb used example beautifully cancelled by a crisp Bath "53" numeral, sent from Bath to Edinburgh and backstamped accordingly for 'NO.9-10.1847'.
A very attractive and scarce late usage Mutready.
Few Mulready lettersheets were used following the decision to abandon the Mulready in favour of prepaid adhesive postage stamps. All stamp distributors and sub-distributors in England and Wales were instructed to return their stocks of Mulreadys on 15 November 1842. Returned stocks were then destroyed leaving only a small number in circulation which could be used.
