This commemorative set was issued to market the 30th anniversary of the Tsunyi Conference. The Conference was a pivotal moment in the history of the Chinese Communist Party in the country’s transition to socialism.
The conference was held in secret in the small town of Tsunyi in Guizhou Province, and its purpose was to resolve conflicts within the party and establish Mao's leadership. The decisions made there paved the way for the Long March and the eventual victory of the Communist Party in the Chinese Civil War. The conference was also significant in that it established Mao Zedong as the undisputed leader of the party.
