The poster is a certificate awarded to a graduate of the University Brigade of Social Work, Teresa Rodriguez Esquiar.
The printed Spanish text translates in part, ''In the name of the Revolution, with gratitude for your participation in the University Brigades of Social Work… creating in our country and even more just and humane society."
The poster includes photos of Castro, along with the central image of a statue of José Martí (1853 - 1895), the celebrated Cuban nationalist, poet and philosopher.
Fidel Castro has clearly signed above his printed name in blue felt pen ink.
His signature is dated July 26, 2001.
This is an important date in Cuban history, which relates to the 26th of July Movement - the revolutionary movement and political party led by Fidel Castro.
And the official aeroplane stamp next to his signature shows he signed the document whilst flying on board his Presidential plane.
Document measures approximately 12" by 15" (30cm by 41cm) and is very good condition.
