A very fine unused, with original gum, example lettered 'TI', with lovely fresh colour and gum.
Very scarce and a major rarity of the Queen Victorian line engraved early stamp issues of Great Britain.

Plate 4 was finished on 29 November 1849, with printing commencing the following month. For the first four years, the sheets of stamps from this plate were issued in the imperforate condition. Official perforation of the 2d blue came into operation on 31 January 1854 and from that date the stamps were issued in perforated sheets.
Plate 4 is the only two pence plate from which stamps were issued both imperforate and perforated.
