A superb unmounted mint, with full original gum, block of eight lettered 'ED-HE' from the bottom of the pane with full sheet margin and inscription. Printed in ultramarine, overprinted "SPECIMEN" type 8.

The first Post Office Telegraph stamps were issued on 1 February 1876 and from 1 May 1876 ordinary postage stamps could no longer be used in payment of telegraphs.
