Novelist Harry Patterson (1929-) is most famous under his pen name Jack Higgins. The Eagle Has Landed, his best known book, sold 10m copies worldwide and was adapted for the screen in 1976. Patterson has written over 60 novels which have been translated into over 40 languages worldwide.
This note, 7" x 5½", is signed "Jack Higgins 16/10/70". A passage from 1969's "In the Hour Before Midnight" is quoted: "...I think he must have died during the night, but I only became aware of it in the heat of the day...". The short letter is dedicated: "To Stanley Wails with very best wishes".
A single, light crease mark runs through the centre, but does not interfere with the reading of the text or signature. The handwritten note is marked in black ink and is in very good condition.
