A black leather handbag gifted by Jacqueline Kennedy to Maud Shaw, her children’s nanny
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (1929-1994) married John F Kennedy in 1953. When he was elected in 1960 she and their young children moved into the White House. She was a glamorous First Lady, celebrated for her style and poise. When JFK was assassinated in 1963, she became a public symbol of grief. She remarried Aristotle Onassis, a Greek businessman, in 1968.
This is a circa 1960s black leather handbag measuring 13.5 x 9.5 x 5 inches by exclusive New York makers Artbag Creations. Used but in excellent condition.
Jacqueline Kennedy gifted this handbag to Maud Shaw, who worked as a nanny to the Kennedy children from 1957 until her retirement in 1965. A wonderful item that celebrates the former First Lady’s eye for fashion.
