- An authentic strand of hair from Princess Alice (1843-1878), second daughter of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria
Princess Alice nursed her father Prince Albert as he lay on his deathbed. She retained an interest in medicine for the rest of her life. Soon after her marriage to the German prince Louis IV in 1862, Germany became embroiled in the Austro-Prussian War (1866). Alice devoted much of her attention to working in field hospitals.
Alice is an excellent example of how interconnected the royal families of Europe are. Her daughter Alexandra Feodorovna married Nicholas II in 1894, becoming the last Tsarina of the Russian Empire.
This authentic half inch strand of Princess Alice’s hair is an intriguing curio linking several grand European royal families.
It comes presented on an 8 x 5.75 inch display card, perfect for framing.
