A superb quality example, imperforate with good to large margins and line colour and with large part original gum.
One of the great rarities of St. Helena, with only twelve examples possible from the bottom row of one sheet which escaped surcharge through upward misplacement of the setting (12x4), and among the finest of the known examples remaining.
Provenance: Ex Gilbert.
Accompanied with Brandon (2006) and Royal Philatelic Society (1958) certificates of authenticity. The RPS certificate is made out to W. H. Colson, whose handstamped initials appear on the reverse.
