Transjordan 1922 (Nov) 4/10p on 4m scarlet, perforations 15x14, type 2 handstamped surcharge, vertical pair from lower right corner of upper pane, SG23.
A brilliant quality mint pair with original gum, (the lower stamp being unmounted mint). Piece of margin is missing, but an impressive positional piece, with doubling of surcharge on both stamps.
A rare stamp as only 960 were originally issued (= 4 sheets) and scarce in this form.
These first stamps for Transjordan were E.E.F. stamps overprinted with the inscription "Arab Government of the East" in Arabic.
The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £120+.
