Queen’s 2001 Daimler Majestic to auction

A 2001 Daimler Majestic built especially for Queen Elizabeth II is coming to auction later this month.

The lot will star in H&H Classics’ July 26 sale.

Queen Daimler HH

The car retains its original security lights

Daimler has been the marque of choice for the British royal family since 1902, when it was granted a royal warrant by Edward VII.

While Rolls-Royce and Bentley are the preferred choice for official functions, the royals tend to drive Daimlers in their day to day lives.

This one was in service between 2001 and 2007. Both the Queen and Prince Philip have been photographed driving it.

Among the regal extras are dual window controls on the rear seats. Apparently the Queen likes to have the window opposite her open when she is being driven.

There’s also a special handbag tray.

As you might expect, the car includes a wealth of hi-tech security features – including powerful security lights.

Damian Jones of H&H Classics said: “Royal cars do come to the market from time to time but fairly infrequently.

“So when they do come to auction they usually command a premium price. And as this car has not been entirely stripped of its royal extras it will doubtless do well on July 26.”

The car is valued at up to £55,000 ($71,066).

Another of the Queen's Daimlers, used between 2001 and 2004, sold for £45,000 ($57,860) in 2013.
