A rare Beacon Ethyl gasoline single-sided porcelain sign will highlight the Fall Peotone Petroliana and Automobilia Auction at Matthews Auctions in Illinois on October 17-18 with an estimate of $40,000-60,000.
The lighthouse-shaped sign, rated nine out of 10, dates to around 1940 and features excellent colour.

A similar sign reached $55,000 at Matthews Auctions earlier this year, although the sign coming up in the October sale is seen as a superior example.
A double sided Clipper gasoline sign will also feature, with a $30,000-40,000 estimate. Dan Matthews, a spokesperson for Matthews Auctions, commented: "This is one of the hardest petroliana signs to find.
"I know of only two that sold privately in the past five years and they were in the same condition or maybe less."
A Rickenbacker Authorised Flat Rate Service double sided porcelain sign is another highlight, featuring an estimate of $25,000-35,000, while a Wyeth Tires single sided porcelain curved shield-shaped design, rated 9+, is valued at $20,000-25,000.
A number of neon signs are also offered with identical estimates of $10,000-25,000 each. They include a Mother Penn Motor Oil and a Chevrolet Service. Both are mounted on cans and rated nine.
