The renowned collection of Jacques and Galila Hollander will be auctioned through Christie's on October 16 in Paris, featuring 600 paintings, drawings, furniture and objets d'art.
|
The collection has a total value of $5.2m-7.9m, with the items spanning antiquity through to the 17th century.
The Hollanders were renowned for their collection, having spent since 1975 gathering treasures for display as part of a Renaissance style "kunstkammer" or cabinet of curiosities.
Continuing the Hollanders' tribute to this tradition, items in the sale will be presented according to a method of classification used by 17th century scholars, with categories including Arteficialia, Naturalia, Scientifica and Exotica.
