A 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren "Stirling Moss" was the highlight of Bonhams' annual Mercedes-Benz sale in Stuttgart.
It realised $2.5m in the March 19 auction.

The car cost around $950,000 new and was only offered to existing SLR owners. Only 75 were ever built.
It was created by Korean designer Yoon Il-hun and is based on the original 1955 300 SLR, most famously driven by Stirling Moss.
Parent company Daimler Chrysler comments: "The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren revives the glorious tradition of the SLR and marks the reawakening of Mercedes-Benz's passion for super sports cars…
"A contemporary interpretation of stylistic elements lifted from the original SLR and design details taken from the 2003 Formula 1 Silver Arrows allows the 21st-Century SLR to form a bridge between the past and the future, bringing cutting-edge motorsport technology to the road, just as the inspirational SLR Coupe did in 1955."
A 1926 Model K was another highlight, selling for $972,555.
The K stands for Kompressor, the supercharger capable of pushing the car to speeds well over 100mph.
The present lot features rare La Baule coachwork from renowned French maker Saoutchik, while the chassis was designed by Ferdinand Porsche - who in 1931 would go on to found the marque that bears his name.
