"This is an auction that will present excellent buying opportunities both for the advanced collector and the newcomer," said Stephenson's owner and auctioneer, Cindy Stephenson.
"Gold and silver coins stand apart from other types of popular collectibles in that they also have intrinsic value. They have a built-in hedge against inflation, since they're both a commodity and a monetary instrument."
For those looking for fine collectible pieces below $1,000, the flying eagle and Indian-head cents offer an exciting investment prospect, and there are also a number of Barber halves and quarters available.
Stephenson's auction takes place in Southampton, Pennsylvania, starting at 4pm EST. Those bidding might wish to take a look at our Top Five Collectible US Coin Investments, which comments on Indian Head cents, Barber quarters and silver peace dollars.
Alternatively, this range of rare coins is also on the market right now.
