A tricolour flag flown by the Irish Volunteers during the 1916 Easter Rising is to cross the block at Whyte's Auctioneers in Dublin.
The sale will take place on November 8, with the flag carrying a valuation of up to $63,915, the Irish Times reports.

It bears the inscription "Sinn Fein go deo" (Sinn Fein forever) and is thought to have been captured by British troops during the fighting.
The conflict raged on the streets of Dublin for six days before it was brutally ended by the British.
Despite the failure of the insurrection, the desire for an Irish republic remained strong among the population - leading to the eventual signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in 1921.
