A set of Gustave Young engraved Colt 1849 percussion revolvers carry an estimate of $600,000-800,000 ahead of Bonhams' Fine Antique Arms sale in San Francisco on November 10.
Colt introduced the model (also known as the pocket revolver) as the upgrade to the Baby Dragoon series.

It proved particularly popular among officers on both sides during the American civil war - leading to roaring sales for the gun maker.
Colt produced more than 300,000 during the war and many more afterwards, following the opening of a franchise in London.
The present lot features work from legendary engraver Gustave Young, a German immigrant who arrived in the US in 1846 and swiftly built himself a sterling reputation.
A factory engraved Colt 3rd model Dragoon revolver is valued at $300,000-500,000.
Samuel Colt personally presented the lot to Eli Whitney Jr, best known as the inventor of the cotton gin.
The two men had collaborated on the first Colt revolver, which became the Colt-Walker, in 1836. It was produced at Whitney's factory in Hamden, Connecticut.
Colt firearms are hugely collectible and often command strong figures at auction. In 2012, a Colt 'Buntline' Special realised $490,000, while a Colt Navy revolver made $368,000.
