A rare Palitoy vinyl caped Jawa figurine sold for a record £21,600 ($27,667) at toy specialist Vectis Auctions on May 25.
The vinyl cape Jawa figures were only produced for a short period
It more than doubled both its estimate of £10,000 ($12,809) and the previous record for this particular type – set at £10,200 ($15,370) in 2013.
Vectis’ valuer Kathy Taylor explained to the BBC: "It came from somebody who used to work at Palitoy and they had it for many years in a cupboard.
"There's only about five or six known to exist."
Fittingly, the sale was held on the 40th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) - the first film in the franchise.
The record for a Star Wars figure is £26,000 ($34,000), set by a 1980 Boba Fett –released in France by Meccano.
