Whitney Houston's car expected to draw fans in San Antonio sale
The late singer's Porsche will be sold at auction in San Antonio, TX, USA later this month
The car which formerly belonged to recently deceased singer, Whitney Houston is to be sold in a San Antonio classic car auction on April 20, 2012.
The 1991 Porsche Carrera Convertible is expected to draw strong interest from fans, with other memorabilia selling for impressive amounts in recent auctions.
One of her dresses recently made $11,520 against an estimate of $2,000, showing a 476% increase and highlighting the escalating worth of Whitney Houston memorabilia following her death in February. While unremarkable, the 1991 Porsche Carrera is fitting of the late singer's style and encapsulates her personality, increasing its worth to her devoted fans. The vehicle is registered to one of Houston's production companies, Nippy, Inc., which was named after the childhood nickname given to her by her father, John Houston.
The car comes complete with service records which show that it was previously owned by the latesinger and has only 53,313 miles on the clock. An estimate has not yet been set by the auction house.
The San Antonio auction will feature over 300 cars, with over 5,000 expected to attend. A 1968 Shelby GT500 Mustang Convertible is expected to bring the highest bids. Fitted with an original 428 CI police interceptor V-8 engine and featuring a rare Acapulco Blue finish, the car is one of two GT500s at the sale.
