A distinctive wide-brimmed hat Beyonce Knowles wore on her Formation World Tour (2016) has just sold for $27,500 at Heritage Auctions.
That’s an increase of 1275% on its $2,000 valuation.
Beyonce consigned the hat for the Lung Transplant Project
The star consigned the hat to benefit charity The Lung Transplant Project, which aims to reduce waiting times for transplants.
She’s signed on the underside “All my love – Beyonce”.
The auction follows on from the sale of a microphone she used on the tour for $11,000 in May. The fact both these items featured in charity sales will have inflated their value.
However, Beyonce is arguably the biggest music star on the planet and demand is likely to increase in the years to come.
We have this mask worn by contemporary superstar Lady Gaga on a recent tour.
The remainder of the sale was made up of pieces from the world of urban art and street wear, including a pair of Back to the Future inspired Nike Air Mags.
They were offered complete with the original box and went for $23,750.
There was also a KAWS x Hajime Sorayama figurine made from metalised plastic. KAWS is a US designer best known for his distinctive models, while Hajime Sorayama is a Japanese artist who produces 80s style pin-up art – albeit with robots.
