A suede Levi's jacket that legendary musician Bob Dylan gave to Beatle John Lennon is to auction as part of Bonhams' Entertainment Sale in London on July 3.

The jacket was given to Lennon in 1966, while Dylan was staying in London

Estimated to be worth £8,000-12,000 (13,000-19,000), for many years the jacket resided in the collection of Tony Bramwell, who worked with the Beatles during the 1960s.

Bramwell asserts that the Beatles met Dylan many times during the swinging sixties and, on one occasion, in 1966, Lennon complimented Dylan on the tan suede jacket he was wearing.

A few days later the gift arrived at the Beatles' offices - addressed from Bob to John. Although it turned out to be a little on the small side for Lennon, seeing that the suede jacket fitted Bramwell perfectly, Lennon let him keep it.

Our sister company, PFC Auctions, recently sold John Lennon's brown corduroy jacket for £9,240 ($14,011). The substantial sale price suggests a jacket which can be linked to both Lennon and Dylan has the potential to do very well at auction.

Margot Fonteyn’s size four ballet shoes are expected to make £2,000 ($3,100)

Also to star on July 3 are a pair of ballerina Margot Fonteyn-worn and autographed ballet shoes, which are estimated to be worth £1,500-2,000 ($2,300-3,100) and a Margaret Thatcher Spitting Image puppet, which is expected to bring £2,000-3,000 (3,100-4,700).

Puppets from the satirical show generally prove very popular at auction, especially Thatcher examples. In December 2005, a Hillary Clinton puppet made £2,100 ($3,292) at CooperOwen.
