The Bergonzi violin used by leading international soloist Leila Josefowicz has sold through Ingles and Hayday as part of its October 29 auction in London.

The violin has been used by Josefowicz for the past 12 years, and has therefore played with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras and conductors. It sold for £156,000 ($250,369), making a 4% increase on its £150,000 high estimate.
Michele Angelo Bergonzi (1721-1758) was one of the famed luthiers of Cremona, home of the Stradivari and Guarneri families. His father, Carlo, worked in the Stradivari workshop during the later period of Antonio Stradivari's career.
On December 18, specialist auctioneer Tarisio will sell the Stradivarius violin stolen from Min-Jin Kym. It has an estimate of £2m ($3.2m).
