Buckingham Palace sentry box carries $11,500 estimate

A sentry box that once stood outside Buckingham Palace is valued at £5,000-7,000 ($8,205-11,487) ahead of a sale at Bonhams London on January 28-29.

The lot will form one of the highlights of the Gentleman's Library auction.

Buckingham Palace sentry box
The sentry box was used by palace guards to shelter from the rain

Used as shelter by soldiers guarding the palace, until its replacement in 1992, the box is shaped in the typical style and painted navy blue.

It was last held in the collection of Sir Blair Stewart-Wilson - a former army officer and high ranking member of the royal household.
