The lot, numbered "00001/12300", was one of 12,300 consoles created to celebrate the launch of the original Playstation. It displays its iconic livery in homage.
The auction was held by the tech giant, which plans to donate the proceeds to charity. A spokesperson announced in a statement: "We appreciate all who participated in the auction and are surprised at the highest bid price, which was higher than our expectations."
