A Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master wristwatch that once belonged to a pioneering cameraman and adventurer has been consigned to a March 26 auction in the UK.

The auction house Anderson & Garland has given the watch a £3,000-4,000 ($4,500-6,000) estimate, though it may well exceed this given its fascinating provenance.
The watch was owned by John "Slim" MacDonnell, an adventurer and cameraman who was renowned for his innovations in filming in difficult and dangerous environments. He worked on the James Bond film Octopussy, as well as supplying the filming technology for Sir Richard Branson's hot air balloon adventures.
