This Thursday, March 18, Sotheby's held a sale of collectible jewellery in London. Whilst no record-breaking pieces were on offer, there were a few pieces which excited those attending.
Two of the most impressive lots were a diamond chain and necklace, both given estimates as low as £14,000.
The diamond chain, at a length of 1,060mm consists of a series of spectacle-set brilliant-cut diamonds of various sizes. Bidders chased the piece up to £25,000 before the hammer came down.

This was topped, however, by a necklace of negligée design which suspended a fancy intense pink pear-shaped diamond weighing 0.91 carats and another similarly shaped near-colourless stone weighing 0.98 carats.
The pink diamond is certified to be natural, whilst the colourless diamond is D Colour and of VS1 Clarity. It sparked a small bidding war, and the price was buffeted up to £30,000 before a contented winning bidder collected it.
